Mobile devices for poker: The ARJEL confirms its progress in France
During the publishing of the report on the second quarter of 2012, the French Regulatory Authority of online games (ARJEL) talked about the decline in attendance including of online poker especially cash games, the rise of sports betting after the Euro 2012 and continuous increasing of horse betting. This report was also an opportunity for the French regulatory commission to mention the popularity inside poker players to use mobile phone to indulge their passion. According to the report, the months of April to June 2012 was marked by the increase by 18% of connection on platforms of online poker from mobile devices for a total of 153,100 players. 15% of the connection has been made from smartphones and 3% with digital tablets. In the second quarter 2011, only 7% of online poker players opted for this mobile solution.
According to the ARJEL, this enthusiasm of players to log in from mobile devices has been facilitated by the development of mobile online poker applications of some operators like PokerStars and Winamax. It is explained in another way by the organizing of the PokerStars Mobile Cup which took place in June in six French cities ie Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Lille, Marseille and Lyon. Face to this increase in mobility among online poker players, the ARJEL announced that new decision to accredit mobile software was undertaken during the second quarter.
