USA: The co-founder of Absolute Poker sentenced of 14 months imprisonment

The co-founder of the online poker room Absolute Poker, Brent Beckley had just received a sentence of 14 months imprisonment for conspiracy and bank fraud. After the Black Friday case, the world of online poker in the U.S.A is still very hectic. The businessman of 32 years pleaded guilty face to the U.S. District Court of Manhattan, for having participated in the illegal money processing transaction for his poker room. Normally, he faced 12 to 18 months of imprisonment but the judge decided to set his sentence to 14 months imprisonment because of the fact that Beckley had no intent to cause financial losses to banks, and that no bank has been victim of the act he committed. Moreover, the culprit told he understands why he received such a penalty even if he previously believed that he violated any law. Note that 11 men were involved in the Black Friday case and some of them have already received their sentence.

As a reminder, last month, the banker of 59 years, John Campos was jailed for a period of three months for having taking part in illegal transaction of $ 200 million for online poker sites including Full Tilt Poker. At the beginning of July, the Executive Director of this website, Ray Bitar was arrested and after having paid a fine, he was released on probation. Four men have not yet appeared in court and reside outside the USA as the half brother of Beckley, Tom Scott, Nelson Burtnick, Isai Scheinberg and Paul Tate.
