Ray Bitar: The CEO of Full Tilt Poker recovers freedom
A week ago, the CEO of the online poker room Full Tilt Poker, Ray Bitar, voluntarily surrendered to the U.S. authorities and was arrested at Kennedy Airport. Last Monday, he was released on bail following an agreement prepared by his lawyers and prosecutors. The latter did not want to relax Bitar for fear he abscond. Thats why they found an agreement. Its the Federal Magistrate Paul Engelmayer who signed the authorization. So now, Bitar is in his property of Glendora, California and is under electronic surveillance by the FBI. In return for this freedom, Bitar, who pleaded not guilty to the end had to pay a deposit of $ 2.5 million and a commitment to secure his property. As he has no right to leave New York, Justice seized his passport. Finally, some of his relatives also had to vouch for that commitment and they will be accused of complicity in case of non compliance with the agreement.
Note that Bitar especially went back in the United States to go to finalize the sales contract with PokerStars and have the chance to keep his promises which were to pay players and pay employee salaries. This freedom will then allow him to perform all operations relating thereto. He must answer to nine charges and if he is found guilty, he could face 145 years emprisonment.
