WPT National Series: Olsen won the stage in Madrid
While most poker fans are following the WSOP 2012 in Las Vegas, Madrid received at the same time the World Poker Tour National Series, a side event of the famous WPT tour that takes place at National level but, since its establishment, it's popular inside European poker enthusiasts. The WPT National Series Madrid brought together 166 participants but after three days, the title was won by the Dane Peter Olsen. The final table brought together the eight survivors of the event that gathered at Gran Casino Torrelodones Madrid, namely Robert Cazali, Peter Olsen, Raul Mestre, Alex Stevic, Rosa Maria Isla, Enrique Barroso, Cristian Mihu and Manuel Sanchez.
Having started the final table in the 5th place in terms of chip count, Peter Olsen contributed to the elimination of many players starting with that of Robert Cazali who left the table with 8,000 for his 8th place. Enrique Barroso ( 10,000), Cristian Mihu ( 12,000), Manuel Sanchez ( 15,000), Alex Stevic ( 20,000) did not last long. Rosa Maria Isla was for her part eliminated in the third place, a position that allowed her to walk away with gain of 27,000. After the head's up between Raul Mestre and Peter Olsen, the WPT title and the 60,000 reward returned to the Danish. Raul Mestre, winner of the IFP World Championship, settled for a gain of 42,000. The next meeting is set from July 12 at Mazagan Beach Resort, Morocco.
