Addiction: When a poker debt turns into robbery
Poker addiction is a real problem for some players. Debt can bring players to do anything to make acts contrary to law. This is the case of Kolinga Leonce, an resident of Ile de France region of 33 years old, who made twice an armed robbery in supermarkets. On December 18, 2010, Leonce Kolinga made a hold up at Carrefour Market of Vatan and on December 30 of the same year, the Intermarket Aix-en-Othe was the next. And every time, employees were kidnapped. This aggravating circumstance in addition to the fact he does sentenced him for 13 years imprisonment. This sentence is justified following a recidivism. Indeed, Leonce Kolinga was already condemned by the Créteil Court in December 2004.
Face to the judge, Kolinga said that the reason of the heist was poker. This father of two children became an addict of the game in 2010 and since then, he was moving from gain and loss till debt. Half of the booty of 8,220 allowed him to repay the half of a debt of 20,000 and the other half served him as bankroll to repay his entire debt. But as he lost once again, his debt had risen to 40,000. Under pressure from his creditors, he was forced to go through the easiest way even if it was illegal. Realizing how to stop at the right time is a poker strategy to avoid any risk of addiction and debt.
