WSOP 2012 : Allyn Jaffrey-Shulman wins the Senior Event
The Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship event is very popular inside older players at the WSOP. The Rio Hotel and Casino hosted last week the Event # 29, the Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship of $ 1,000 buy-in in which 4,128 players participated. This event specially organized for players of more than 50 years experienced this year a record attendance because last year, the number of participation was only 3,752 players. After three days, only four players were qualified for the final of this poker tournament scheduled for Sunday but Bob Phelps, Dennis Phillips, Hoyt Corkins and Allyn Jaffrey-Shulman, the only woman in the final table, decided to postpone the final on last Monday.
On Sunday, Harold Lilie and Martin Fitzmaurice were respectively eliminated in the eighth and seventh place. Both players pocketed $ 48,669 and $ 63,418. The day continued with the elimination of William Thomson ($ 83,332) but also of Stuart Spear and Bill Stabler, both eliminated in the sixth and fifth place by Allyn Jaffrey-Shulman. For his part, Dennis Phillips started the day as chipleader with a well stocked stack of 5,335,000 chips. On Monday, Hoyt Corkins was the first ousted but his 4th place let him took home $ 199,023. Jaffrey-Shulman was responsible for the eliminating of Bob Phelps, who left the final table with $ 270,727. Allyn Jaffrey Shulman had as opponent during the final head's up Dennis Phillips with a stack of 9.57 million or 2.82 million more than that of Phillips. After thirty minutes of head's up, Allyn Jaffrey Shulman won his first WSOP bracelet and $ 603,713 for his victory.
