WSOP: Simon Charette wins the Event # 23
18 players survived at the start of Day 3 of the Event # 23 of the World Series of Poker 2012, a No Limit Hold'em 6-Handed of $ 3,000 buy-in. But after a few hours of play, it's the Canadian Simon Charette who emerged victorious after knocking out a field composed of talented players like the French Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Freddy Deeb, Eugene Katchalov or Andy Frankenberger. The event brought together initially 924 participants generating a prize pool of $ 2,522,520. 104 paid places have been planned and the $ 567,624 provided for the winner is entitled to Simon Charette who was simply royal as he began the day with a rather impressive field as he was at the 9th place in the chip count with 405,000 chips at the beginning of Day 3.
Behind Simon Charette, we found Artem Metalidi who pocketed $ 350,806 for his second place. The head's up between Simon Charrette and Artem Metalidi only lasted a short time. Metalidi decided to make all-in preflop, which was paid by Charette. Artem Metalidi lost face and offered the WSOP bracelet and the $ 567,624 to Simon Charette. Luis Rodriguez left the final table with $ 222,511 preceded by Eddie Blumenthal ($ 146,053), Hays Foster ($ 98,756), Bertrand Grospellier ($ 68,738), Scott Montgomery ($ 49,214), Andrew Lichtenberger ($ 49,214), Joseph Urgo ( $ 36,198) and Freddy Deeb ($ 36,198) in the last spot of the top 10. Scott Montgomery fails in the 7th place with $ 49,214 while Eugene Katchalov settled for $ 21,189 for his 17th place in this poker tournament.
