GPI Player of The Year: Negreanu in the Top 10
The results accumulated by poker players at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will change many things in the ranking of the Global Poker Index. In fact, 61 tournaments are expected as part of this great event, and it is certain that players who managed to accumulate good results will climb to the top spot. Currently, it is the former world poker champion, Jonathan Duhamel who is in the first place in the top 10 of the GPI "Player of The Year 2012". He amassed 595.68 points. Until here, he didn't achieved yet especially feat at the WSOP 2012, but his results at different majors allowed him to rise at the leadership position.
Dan Smith follows in second position with 582.60 points. Besides his achievements in the Aussie Millions and the European Poker Tour, he also integrate the paid list of the WSOP 2012 Event 2. He reached the 17 th place. Marvin Retteinmaier ranks third with 560.13 points. The latter has seen a remarkable rise through the 5 th place at the WSOP 2012 Event 6. But what marks this provisional classification is the presence of Daniel Negreanu in the top 10. Since the kickoff of the WSOP, he has already recorded two cashes. There's his 5th place at the $ 1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em and his 45 th place in the Omaha Hi / Lo of $ 1,500. Members of the top 10 will continue to play poker and if they manage to accumulate tangible results, they can still improve their rankings. But other more talented players can also make their appearance in this list.
