Spain: Official opening of the market of online poker
To the delight of players and online poker enthusiasts in Spain, operators who got their license have already opened their doors since Tuesday, June 5, 2012. So now, Spaniards can play poker on the net legally. Note that operators highly respected in the poker industry have been entitled to approval and can operate in the Iberian market. They apparently agreed to pay back taxes. The Spanish regulator has been much more flexible in regulations concerning accounts migration from .com to .es sites, which was not the case in France. This greatly eased the task of operators, and allowed players to have a wide choice regarding the game variants because besides Texas Hold'em and Omaha, they can also play Seven Card Stud, Badugi, Razz and 2-7 Triple Draw.
It is clear that Spain, which is undergoing a difficult economic situation, has made every effort to make it more practical the necessary steps to the market opening. The country needs an adequate fiscal resource and there is nothing better than online poker to give them the required benefit. Hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake now, players and the legal operators in France are increasingly frustrated with the rigidity of the rules adopted by the Regulatory Authority of online games or ARJEL. The uniformity of tax regulations in the territory is a better solution to their problem. But it's for the European Union to take the appropriate action.
