WPT National Series Cannes: 141 players present at Day 1A
Held at the same time as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, but simply separated by the Atlantic, the Main event of 1,650 entry fee of the World Poker Tour National Series Cannes still managed to attract a field of 141 participants during its first qualifying day. This day A was composed of 11 levels of play for a period of one hour and after the meeting, there are only 47 survivors for the second day of competition. The presence of some French poker elite like Leo Truche, Jean Philippe Rorh, Philippe Ktorza, Antonin Teisseire, Jean Paul Pasqualini, Benjamin Pollack, Steve Moreau and Valentin Messina marked the day. None of these players, however, managed to qualify for the Day 2. The public can still hope, however, their come back at the poker room of the Casino Barrière Cannes Croisette during the second qualifying day because the re-entry format is effective during this tournament.
Regarding the best performance of the Day 1A, we note the exploits of Michael Berthe who accumulated 151,500 chips, which propelled him to the place of chipleader. Sébastien Ta and Pierre Antona are respectively in the second and third place. We should also mention that some of well known players like Yannick Massa, Remy Biechel, Fred Brunet, Erwann Pecheux and Omar Karib are in the top 10. The Day 1B began on Friday June 1st at noon. Organizers hope to attract many other competitors, which will constitute offer a rather important total field.
