MPO: Triumph of Pierre Picherit at the Main Event, the Deepstack for Tiziano
The Es Saadi Casino hosted since Wednesday, May 24 the 26th edition of the Marrakesh Poker Open (MPO), a major international live event that Morocco welcomes since several years. Many French players made the trip for the 1,350 buy-in Main Event generating a prize pool of Dhs 2,623,050. At the end, it's Pierre Picherit who won the event and leave with a gain of Dhs 516,740. Over 200 players were registered at the Marrakesh Poker Open Main Event which took place during the weekend. So, the record attendance of the previous edition of the MPO, 195 players, was beaten.
After two days of competition, therefore, the French won the 26th edition of the MPO ahead of Alexandre Reard and Louis Seguela. Both players pocketed a respective gain of Dhs 413,130 and Dhs 309,257. In the fourth place was Mohamed Benchaad with Dhs 300,000 followed by Yamina Dimartino (Dhs 154,759), Laurent Badin (Dhs 128,529), Adpephok Baskali (Dhs 107,545), Roger Tondeur (Dhs 91,806) and Fayez Bourgi (Dhs 78,691). Of the 24 players who were in the money, we can retain the excellent performance of Bryan Hairabedian, Marc Trijaud, Pascal Ballester and David Zenou. Besides the main event, many players also registered in the Deepstack of 500 buy-in. The Italian Tiziano Antonelli triumphed face to a field of 274 players and took home 26,277. The organizers already give appointment to poker enthusiasts at the end of this year for a new edition of the Marrakesh Poker Open.
