WPT World Championship: Many critics from players
While the World Poker Tour World Championship should be a great event, it received many critics and caused great disappointment among fans of the circuit. According to players, many defects were detected in the organization, not to mention the bad reception awarded by the host institution, which is none other than the famous Bellagio in Las Vegas. This large resort has several poker room that could accommodate such a large tournament with a buy-in of $ 25,000, but organizers didn't find better than installing players at the 1st floor of the casino in a smoking area which is located very near slot machines. Note that early in the tournament, many professionals unveiled their anger on Twitter like Matt Waxman and Ryan D'Angelo.
The French Guillaume Darcourt didn't also hide his disappointment and dissatisfaction. He referred to the payouts he thought too pathetic for competitors, the precariousness of media materials that allow journalists to carry out their work properly, the incompetence of the tournament director and his decision to stop the game as there is only a player to eliminate before the bubble burst. At first, players simply boycotted the event, which explains the considerable decrease of influx observed in this 2012 edition. Indeed, if the tournament was able to gather 220 participants in 2011, it attracted only 152 competitors this year. Most of well known players preferred the game play in the online poker tournament, SCOOP, which started on the sidelines of the grand finale of the WPT Season X.
