Global Poker Index: ElkY continues to lead, McDonald in the Top 10
This week, the world ranking of the 300 best poker players in live tournament knew a new change. In early May, the French Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier rose in the top spot, outdistancing of a few points the American Jason Mercier. The three first positions of this week didn't change because behind ElkY and Jason Mercier, we always find David Sands. Sorel Mizzi maintained his fourth place while Eugene Katchalov (6th) lost the fifth place henceforth occupied by Stephen O'Dwyer.
But the biggest change comes to Mike McDonald who jumped five places to climb into the Top 10. McDonald reached then the 9th place after his remarkable performance in live tournament since December 2011 and overtake Jonathan Duhamel (11th), Daniel Negreanu (12th), Chris Moorman (13th) and Erik Seidel (15th). This 23 years Canadian was always paid during tournaments he participated. He finished 27th in the Main Event of the EPT Prague in 2011 and pocketed $ 22,762. During the same tournament, his second place in the NLH Re-Entry allowed him to walk away with $ 150,896. Since the beginning of the year, he won $ 45,915 for his 9th place in the Main Event of the EPT Madrid, and the EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo High Roller (8th, $ 33,666), the 6 Max Event (11th, $ 14,127). And for French players, apart from ElkY, we find Fabrice Soulier (25th), Guillaume Darcourt (79th), Jean-Philippe Rohr (84th), Bruno "Kool Shen" Lopes (129th), Ludovic Lacay (165th), etc. In all, twenty French are in the list of the top 300 worldwide live event poker players.
