GPI: ElkY at the top
The Global Poker Index (GPI) is the global ranking of top 300 poker players worldwide. In early May, the classification registered a new change mainly in the Top 10. Indeed, after 11 weeks at the top spot, the American Jason Mercier gives way to the French Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. The American monopolized this ranking leader since mid-February due to his gain of nearly 2.4 million dollars in live tournament during 2011. But since the beginning of the year, Jason Mercier was only seen in two events during which he earned only $ 100,000. This poor start of the American allowed Elky to take the leadership of the GPI. The French participated in seven tournaments since the beginning of the year and has already $ 1,266,165 earning. His victory in the 10,000 High Roller of the EPT Berlin and his third place at the EPT Monte Carlo High Roller Super let him to win a few more points for a total of 2982.42 points against 2909.04 for Jason Mercier.
Sorel Mizzi still occupies the third place (2553.66) followed closely by Eugene Katchalov (2551.10), David Sands (2475.35), Shawn Buchanan (2366.96), Stephen O'Dwyer (2363.78), Juha Helppi (2328.50)... Martin Jacobson (9th) jumped nine places to integrate the top 10 with the Canadian High Roller specialist, Jonathan Duhamel who close it. Just behind the Canadian and former world champion of poker, there are Chris Moorman who won a place and Erik Seidel who won fifteen seats. Justin Bonomo (74th) is the new player that integrates the ranking this week.
