WSOP APAC: The famous series exported in Asia-Pacific
On Tuesday, May 1st, the Executive Director of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Ty Steward and the Executive Director of Crown Casino in Melbourne, in Australia officially announced the creation of the WSOP Asia-Pacific (APAC). With the success recorded by the WSOP Las Vegas and the WSOP Europe, Ty Stewart wanted to conquer the Asian poker scene and because of the reputation of the Aussie Millions, he thought that a partnership with Crown Casino in Melbourne is an excellent choice to ensure the success of this new championship series. The goal in creating this new tour is to create a world grand slam.
The first edition of the WSOP APAC is scheduled to take place in the prestigious poker room of Crown Casino from April 4 to 15, 2013. It will be a series of five tournaments that will let participants to win a WSOP bracelet, the most coveted by poker pros. Note that this possible visit of the WSOP in Australia particularly delighted fans of poker and the owner of Crown Casino in Melbourne. This is a good opportunity to boost the development of this industry in the region. Joe Hachem even announced that "this is a dream come true." The world champion in 2005 also said he is eager to take part in this great event. This first-ever WSOP APAC will be broadcast on ESPN. But the details of its program are still unknown.
