WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown: Beginning of the tournament
Since last Wednesday, the World Poker Tour (WPT) settled in Hollywood, Florida for the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. In the first qualifying day of this great poker tournament, a field of 281 participants was recorded. At first glance, this year's edition registered a decline as the peak of last year, 433 players was not reached. However, nothing is done because the registration is open until the beginning of the second day of competition. Despite this relatively small field, the Day 1A was still interesting as many top players was present there. At the end of the day, it was David Nicholson, a former champion of the World Series of Poker Circuit, who reached the place of chipleader by accumulating 132,300 chips after having eliminated Eli Elezra. He is closely followed by John Dolan, who finished the day with a stack of 120,000 chips.
Chino Rheem, a former member of the November Nine also made a good run on the Day 1A and ended up at the 8th rank with 106,100 chips in hand. The defending champion Taylor von Kriegenbergh is also among the survivors of the Day 2 as well as some familiar faces in this game like Jason Mercier, Christina Lindley, Matt Giannettti, Jonathan Little, Mike Sexton or Chad Brown. But the adventure is already over for Tony Dunst, Daryll Fish, Tom Marchese, Michael Mizrachi and James Dempsey.
