GUKPT Deepstack: Triumph of Allan Peers at its inaugural stage
The opening stage of the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour Deepstack (GUKPT) of £ 500 buy-in ended with the victory of Allan Peers. The champion ousted Thomas Dunwoodle during the final duel and won his first live tournament trophy. Although the event attracted only 73 participants, it must be said that the meeting provided a good show. Note that participants were able to play poker deepstack by having each at the start of the event 50,000 chips for levels of play of 60 minutes. In the first qualifying day, the game was slow. But the Genting Poker Series champion, Ruslan Vlasov animated the party. Unfortunately, he failed to reach the final table.
The prize pool gathered was quite low because it was only £ 36,000. Therefore, the organizers awarded the top 10 players of the game. Paul Reilly was the bubble boy of the final table but was entitled to the tenth prize money of £ 520. The final table of nine thus began with Andy Lambert as chip leader. Holder of the lowest stack, David Galo was the first eliminated. Darren Meynell and CT Law also suffered the same fate, finishing respectively 7th and 8th. Some time after, the chipleader joined them. Andy Lambert wasn't able to keep his advantage. Mark James and Mark O'Kane left then the game to finish respectively 5th and 4th. James Marriot was awarded the bronze position with a prize of £ 5,380.
