WPT Vienna: Darko Stojanovic as leader with a large advantage
Since Tuesday, April 10, fans of the World Poker Tour (WPT) circuit met in Vienna to begin a new stage of the tournament. If last year, the event attracted a field of 555 participants generating a prize pool of 1,776,000, this year, a decrease of influx was observed. Indeed, with 163 registered players on Day 1A and 233 on Day 1B, the total field of this year 2012 amounts 396 players. However, it was very attractive as the field aggregate different well known players. Many former WPT champions were present there like Victor Ramdim, Adam Levy, Vanessa Selbst or McLean Karr who all perished at the end of Day 1A. Note that some of them retried their chances by enrolling in Day 1B.
Following the first two days of qualifying, the field narrowed to 182 survivors. The chip leader of the day is Darko Stojanovic who through his way of playing poker with aggression, managed to pile up a huge stack of 320,000 chips. He acquired a great advantage because the player who is at the second position, Carsten Jeppe, has only 206,400 chips. Note that the best performance of the chip leader in live tournaments was a victory at the WPT Regional Series in Paris last February. Despite his good position, Stojanovic is far from having won the victory. He will still face serious opponents like the Day 1A chip leader David Breitfuss or Sam El Sayed who is in the 5 th position.
