Premier League V: The title for Scott Seiver

The 16 best poker players in the world gathered last week at Montesino Casino in Vienna, Austria to compete in the Premier League V, a tournament of $ 125,000 buy-in and guaranteeing a prize pool of over $ 1.4 million. Of the 16 enrolled, only half of the field survived from the qualifying rounds. The final table welcomed talented players like Sam Trickett, Daniel Cates, Tony G, Mathew Frankland, Scott Seiver, Patrik Antonius, Phil Laak and Tom Dwan. Thus, there were eight candidates for the title as talented the one from each other but in the end, the coronation of this poker tournament returned to Scott Seiver who leaves the Montesino Casino of Vienna with a handsome sum of $ 500,000.

Sam Trickett and Mathew Frankland were the first two victims of Cates and left the final table with $ 55,000 and $ 65,000 for their respectively 8th and 7th place. Cates took a clear advantage over his opponents but he was joined later by Scott Seiver who eliminated in his path Tom Dwan (6th, $ 60,000). Phil Laak was eliminated by Patrick Antonius (4th, $ 125,000) before being eliminated in his turn by Cates who, at the same time was responsible of Tony G (fifth, $ 100,000) elimination. Laak leaves the table with $ 175,000 in his pocket and let Scott Seiver and Daniel Cates in the final heads-up. It took over 27 minutes for Scott Seiver to get rid of his opponent. Cates, runner up, pocketed $ 300,000, leaving the Premier League V title to Scott Seiver.
