Irish Open of Dublin: Start of the battles this Friday, April 6
This Friday, April 6, 2012, Burlington Hotel in Dublin, Ireland is open to poker enthusiasts eager to take part in the tournament Irish Open of Dublin. This is a great event that brought together the biggest names in poker of the country and all over Europe every year especially during the main event of 3,500 buy-in. For history, the Irish Poker Open was born in 1980. Many poker professionals won a title at this tournament like Terry Rodgers, who won the first title, Liam Flood, Alan Betson, Joe Beevers, Neil Channing... The Irish Poker Open is currently one of major tournaments and since 2005, it brings together the biggest and internationally stars of the discipline as Phil Laak, Dario Mineri, Doyle Brunson, Roland De Wolfe, Sandra Naujocks or Juha Helppi.
Last year, 708 players participated in the tournament creating a prize pool of 550,000. The local player Niali Smyth won the victory after having ousted Surinder Sunar at the final duel. This year, he will be certainly part of the field to defend his title. Note that apart from the main event, several side events will be also in the program during this Irish festival of poker. There will be among others the $ 560 NLH Shorthanded to be held on Saturday, April 7 at 3:00 pm, the Pot Limit Omaha tournament of $ 675 planned to be held the same day at 6:00 pm or the $ 1,025 NLH programmed to Sunday, April 8 and that will be spread over two days of competition. As a reminder, the iSeriesLIVE championship will be also held alongside the main event of the Irish Poker Open. The event will face experienced players like Negreanu and Helmuth.
