EMOP Season IV: Joni Jouhkimainen won the stage of Lisbon
Estoril Casino hosted the second stage of the European Masters of Poker, which brought together a field of 222 players. During this event, Joni Jouhkimainen won the 1,100 buy-in Main Event and pocketed at the same occasion the 56,860 planned for the winner. The EMOP Lisbon is characterized by a final table at which players of different nationalities were assembled. Indeed, the four corners of Europe were represented through the Portuguese Nuno Capucho and José David Metelo Ruivo, the Finnish Tomi Huuskonen and Joni Jouhkimainen, the Swedes Patric Mattsson and Martin Dahlqvist, the Poland native Tomasz Kolodziejski and finally the Irishman David Lappin.
David Metelo were the first player to fall at the final table followed a few hands after by Jose Ruivo. The two Portuguese bagged for their ninth and eighth place a gain of 5,350 and 6,460. In the seventh place was Tomasz Kolodziejski ( 7,580) who was subsequently joined by Nuno Capucho ( 8,690), Martin Dahlqvist ( 10,700), David Lappin ( 13,820) and Patric Mattsson ( 22,740). After the elimination of these seven players, it remains only two Finns in the final table who were Joni Jouhkimainen and Tomi Huuskonen. With a stack of 2.7 million chips against 1.9 million for his opponent, Jouhkimainen imposed his game during this head's up but it took him about thirty minutes before Huuskonen left the table during this poker tournament. For his runner up place, Tomi Huuskonen pocketed 34,110.
