Melbourne Poker Championship: The appointment of May in Australia
Born in 2002, the Melbourne Poker Championship takes an exceptionnal place on the Australian poker tour. For this year, the championship will be held from May 3 to 14 and have ten official events including the Main Event. At its beginning, the main event of the Melbourne Poker Championship garnered only 66 participants for a buy-in of only $ 300. Last year, the championship was a record in terms of participation with 502 players during which Scott Peel won the final table and the $ 104,500 provided for the winner. This year, the main event of the Melbourne Poker Championship will surely draw more people because the tournament starts to have a name on the international circuit. Local stars like Oliver Speidel, winner of the Main Event at the Aussie Million, Joe Hachem and Shane Warne will be part of it without forgetting the defending champion Scott Peel who will do anything to retain his title.
The buy-in of the Main Event is $ 1,100 with the same structure as last year. The Melbourne Poker Championship will be opened by the Joe Hachem Deepstack Series, a No Limit Hold'em tournament of $ 550 buy-in followed by the Main Event of the Melbourne Poker Championship ($ 1,100 buy-in), satellites are scheduled from May 4 to 10 for a buy-in of only $ 65. This tournament has also other events such as the NLH Team - Non Stop Turbo of $ 300 buy-in, the Mixed Game Event HORSE / NHLE / PLO ($ 340), the pot limit Omaha ($ 550), the Turbo Terminator bounty of $ 100 ($ 400) or the No Limit Hold'em Turbo Ante Up ($ 200).
