EPT Madrid: 24 survivors before the final table
The 112 survivors of Day 2 met this Thursday, March 15 at Gran Casino Madrid to designate the some 20 players who will continue the Main Event of the European Poker Tour Madrid 2012. Of the 112 participants, 72 players will enter in the money but only 24 of them will have access to the Day 4, the penultimate day of competition. Kevin Macphee, Rebecca Gerin, Toby Lewis, Johhny Lodden, Alex Kravchenko, Kenny Hallaert, Olivier Busquet, Jacob Rasmussen and Barny Boatman are among the players who are in the money at the Main Event. The Day 2 chip leader Mike McDonald is also qualified for the next round but lost a few places compared to his position at the entrance of Day 3.
At the end of the day, it is João Simão Paulo who takes the chip lead of this poker tournament with a stack well embellished of nearly 2 million chips. As for Mike McDonald, he finished fifth in the standings with 883,000 chips. Two French reached the top 5 of the chip count like Ilan Boujenah (2nd) and Bruno Lopes (3rd) with respective stacks of 1,153,000 and 1,103,000 chips. The Quebecers Jason Duval finished in the fourth place in the standings with 946,000 chips. McLean Karr is the bubble boy of the event while David Benyamine, Dermot Blain, Barny Boatman, Yorane Kerignard, Yann Dion, Matthew Frankland and Ebony Kenney were simply eliminated without being paid. This Friday, March 17 at noon, the 24 survivors will join the Gran Casino tables to determine the finalists of the EPT Madrid.
