WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star: A unique tournament
Last Monday, 142 players came in San Jose, California for the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star and only 54 of them were qualified for Day 2. Unique, this tournament is not included in the program of the World Poker Tour but allows fans to rub shoulders with professionals, specifically to shoo them. Indeed, the goal is to track professional players and each pro player eliminated is equivalent to a bounty of $ 5,000, and a t-shirt autographed by the Shooting Star is also available to shooters. Forty-seven professional players participated in this first day ofqualifying . And the chip leaders for day 1A and 1B received $ 10,000. At the end of the day, Bryce Yockey finished in the top of the table (245,300 tokens) and eliminated Erik Seidel on his way, which already let him to receive a total of $ 15,000.
122 players were registered for the Day 1B of the poker tournament with 28 pros. The second day was dominated by Christ Summers (188,000 chips) who has 95 survivors with only 14 pro players. Stars like Eugene Katchalov, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Phil Hellmuth, Chino Rheem, Matt Stout, Nick Schulman, Kara Scott, Chris Moorman, Matt Affleck, Galen Hall, Mike Sexton, Sorel Mizzi, Jennifer Harman, Vanessa Rousso and Liv Boeree were shot throughout the two days of qualifying. Other stars like Jonathan Duhamel, Jason Mercier, Men Nguyen, Allen Cunningham, Vanessa Selbst, Linda Johnson, JC Tran, Mike Matusow, Scott Seiver, Christian Harder and Kathy Liebert have qualified for the next round among the 149 survivors of Day 1A and 1B.
