GPI: Vanessa Selbst acceded at the 5th place
This week, with the backdrop of the bankruptcy filing of the FS + G, the organizer of the Global Poker Index (GPI), a great change has been recorded in the rankings. The most striking feature is the progression of Vanessa Selbst, due to her excellent track record in the LA Poker Classic inaugural tournament. After having won the trophy at the $ 5,000 buy-in NLHE that brought together 98 participants, the U.S. player has risen to the 5 th position of the GPI with 2,515.36 points. She won three seats and accessed at the fifth position. There is also the rise of Jonathan Duhamel who is currently in the 10th place. Note that the Quebecois was the runner-up of Vanessa Selbst at the same poker tournament and as reminder, he also made a very good run at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. These good results enabled him to win six seats.
If Jason Mercier was able to keep his first place, the French number one, Bertrand Grospellier lost a place because he is now surpassed by Erik Seidel. Shawn Buchanan also won a place and is currently in the 4 th position. Other players also experienced sharp increases in the ranking to name Pierre Neuville who won 26 seats, Farah Zaka (38 seats) and Rupert Elder (54 seats). And there are also those who just made their entrance in the rankings like Dan Shak, Mickey Petersen or Randal Flowers. But some members of the GPI abandon their titles as Michael Tureniec, Massimiliano Martinez and David Baker. With the news about FS+G's bankruptcy of this week, nobody knows yet what will become this so interesting ranking.
