Online poker: 1.2 million active accounts in France with more women
Since the legalization of online gambling market in France, many people engage in this activity. According to the report of the Regulatory Authority of Online Games (ARJEL), during the fourth quarter of 2011, more and more women play in online poker. However, during the same period of 2010, the female population constituted only 9% of the population of online poker players. This rate increased to 11% in Q4 2011. The other highlight of the year 2011 according to this statistics is the growing of online poker market in France despite a contrast between the offer of tournament and cash game which recorded a slight decline. Poker continues to grow, judging by the rising of offers tournament which grow by 24% which means a combined entrance fee of more than 320M while the offer of cash game register a decrease of 3% or 1.869 million less than in 2010.
Cash Game stakes of this fourth quarter fell to 76M against 81M in Q4 2010. The rise of poker in France is also reflected by the number of players active accounts in Q4 2011 which increased by 5% or 37,000 more accounts than in Q4 2010. The tournaments offered by various licensed online poker room registered 16% more players while cash game hosted 10% less players. But despite this contrast, the French online poker record 1.2 million active accounts in 2011.
