EPT Deauville season 8: Toufik Ouirini, chipleader at the start of Day 2
The magnificent city of Deauville welcomed since Tuesday, January 31 a stage of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Season 8 at the Centre International de Deauville. This new edition of the EPT Deauville was clearly different since the first two Day 1 of the Main Event due to a number of affluence as impressive as last year. Indeed, the Day 1A and Day 1B of the Main Event brought together 889 players. The Day 1A gathered 339 players who competed for eight levels. At the end of the day, 220 players survived with Kristijonas Andrulis as chip leader. This Lithuanian player became known for the first time during the EPT Tallinn 2010 with his victory at the High Roller. Kristijonas Andrulis has 162,600 chips and behind him, we find Philippe Ma with 162,200 chips.
During the day 1B of the Wednesday, 1st February, 550 players were registered. On this day, some eliminated players from the first day were reinstated, but only 330 survivors got their tickets to return to the CID for the Day 2. The Moroccan Toufik Ouirini took the first place in terms of chip count with 166,800 chips followed by Aurélien Guiglini (133,700) and Raphael Kroll (132,000). This day was also marked by the elimination of the champion 2011 of the EPT Deauville Lucien Cohen, and some big names in poker such as Bertrand Grospellier, Guillaume Darcourt, David Benyamine, Viktor Blom, Eric Sagne, Yann Brosolo, Nesrine Kourdouli, Jean-Noel Thorel, Valentin Messina, Idris Ambraisse and also Alexis Bouchiouane. The 550 survivors of the first two days will compete this Thursday, February 2 afternoon at the end of Day 2.
