Ostend Poker War II: Esser won the battle of Ostend
Last weekend, passionate of deepstack gave appointment in Belgium for the second edition of the tournament Ostend Poker War. The Casino Kursaal of Ostend was a real "field of war" from January 13 until 15 for European amateurs who made the trip for this poker tournament of 1,000 buy-in, with levels of 60 minutes for a starting stack of 50,000 chips. During these three days of competition, 81 players joined the casino against 85 participants last year. This field generated a prize pool of 76,532, large enough for amateur poker players. And at the end of the final table, it was the German Thomas Esser that emerged victorious, winning 19,300.
During the final, Thomas Esser won against Nicolas Alleman ( 17,000), Matthias De Clercq ( 17,000), Nick Forrez ( 7,650), Robert Vandendriessche ( 5,400), John De Ridder ( 3,800), Len Lauwers ( 3,050) and Luc Boeckx ( 2,332). The winner of the Irish Poker Championship 2012, the French Aubin Cazals failed in the 11th place while he began the third day with a stack of 247,900, Thomas Esser had for his part 336,100 chips. Note that the German is at his first amateur tournament title after having finished in the second place of the Euregio Poker Challenge in 2011 and a first place in the Dortmunder Poker Days in 2010 with gains of 8,000 and 6,000. The next meeting of the casino of Ostend will be on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 February for a team tournament with a deepstack format : the Team Battle 2012.
