GPI: Jason Mercier leads the global ranking
As usual, the Global Poker Index (GPI) publishes a weekly update of the list of the 300 best poker players in live tournament in the world. The GPI registered a great change whatsoever in the Top 10 or in the rest of the table with new players entering in the rankings and others leave it. The top 10 of the GPI for the week of December 19 was marked by the rise of the American Jason Mercier at the top spot following his recent victory in the High Roller tournament of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic. The U.S. qualified then to the top spot after two months spent in the shadow of his countryman Erik Seidel and the French Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.
Jason Mercier is then leading the standings with 2,554 points ahead of Erik Seidel and ElkY by just a few points: 2,477 and 2,470. Eugene Katchalov and Sam Trickett completed the top 5 with 2,436 and 2,320 points. The rest of the list was also marked by the arrival of some players powered by the EPT Prague like Nicolas Levi (113th), Nicolas Chouity (210th), Mads Wissing (218th), Joe Serock (221st), Amnon Filippi (225th), Brian Hawkins (238th), Andrea Dato (241st), Cornel Cimpan (257th), Joe Elpayaa (259th), Vojtech Ruzicka (265th), Taylor Paur (267th), Casey Kastle (275th) and Denys Drobyna (286th). And therefore, logically, other players left the rankings: Eric Buchman, Greg Dyer, Tom Dwan, Adam Junglen, Ted Forrest, Kevin Vandersmissen, Frank Calo, Brock Parker, Mohsin Charania, etc.
