Belgian Poker Series: The title of the Grand Final pocketed by Michael Gathy
The city of Namur welcomed during these last nine days the Belgian Poker Series Grand Final 2011 (BPS) with a total of 538 players registered at the entrance to the first day. After these few days of tournament, Michael Gathy won last Sunday, December 18 the final table of the Main Event of this poker tour in Belgium. Upon the beginning of the final day of the tournament, the Belgian was already in a good position on the final table made up of 8 players. Indeed, he began the day as chip leader with over 5 million chips. Alongside Gathy, the final table was composed of seven players : Ferdinando D'Alessio with 2,365,000 chips, Pascal Junkar (2,295,000), Stéphane Buzzo (2.33 million), Olivier Brismee (1,570,000), Rolando Camardese (950,000), Mohamed Elhamdi (635,000) and Carlo Vanseer (660,000).
The day began with the elimination of short-stack players of the day as Vanseer Carlo ( 14,500) who fell at the eighth place and followed shortly after by Olivier Brismee in the 7th place with a gain of 20,500. Mohamed Elhamdi was the next to leave the table but pocketed 27,500. Rolando Camardese meanwhile failed at the fifth place ( 35,500) followed a few hands after by Ferdinando D'Alessio, who won 46,502 for his feat. There remained after only three players on the table, who were the French Pascal Junkar and two Belgian, Stéphane Buzzo and Michael Gathy. This latter eliminated his countryman and qualified for the head's up against the French. Pascal Junkar was defeated after a few hands and left the title and the 175,000 to Michael Gathy.
