Global Poker Index: Erik Seidel at the top of the ranking
The Global Poker Index (GPI) continues to inform, week by week, poker enthusiasts about the world rankings of the best poker players. And as after every major event, the list knows a significant change either in the top spot or in the the Top 300. Obviously, there are those who go back in this ranking and those experience an elimination from the rankings. After two weeks at the top of the ranking of the world's best players, Jason Mercier drop to fourth in the GPI standings, leaving the podium to Erik Seidel, Eugene Katchalov and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. Indeed, Seidel is the current No. 1 of the world poker with a score of 2,586 while Jason Mercier has 2,390 points behind the French ElkY and his 2,477 points.
The big change in this new classification is the impressive rise of Eugene Katchalov who wins two tickets and is classified at the second step of the podium ahead of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier of a few points. Philipp Gruissem who occupied the 299th place of the GPI did also a great jump (299th to 74th) thanks to his victory in the High Roller of the EPT London. Tristan Wade and Steve Billirakis ascend also in the Top 100 thanks to bracelets won during the WSOP Europe of last week held in Cannes. For the next GPI ranking, we can expect another significant change in the Top 10 with the recent performance of Shawn Buchanan (ninth) at the Main Event and the NLHE Split of the WSOP Europe.
