Jack Drake: The new ANZPT Darwin champion
The Season 3 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) ended with the coronation of Jack Drake during the Darwin stage of this poker tournament, a meeting held last week at Skycity Casino Darwin. The 28 years Australian won during this Main Event final his first live tournament title and pocketed for the same time the sum of $ 36,480. After four days of poker, the final table numbered only the 9 surviving players. The coronation of Jack Drake emerged gradually after the removal of talented players like Danny Knight who is none other than the "ANZPT Player of the Year 2011" and Aaron Benton. By starting the Day 4 as chipleader, Drake immediately took this position at his advantage to win in front of his eight other opponents.
The first player that came out of the final table was Aaron Benton followed shortly after by Danny Knight who respectively won a gain of $ 4,480 and $ 5,760. After the dinner break, Glenn Parry ($ 7,040), Jamie Hill ($ 8,960) and Jonathan Dangio ($ 10,880) were also forced to quit the table, leaving the battle for the title for the four remaining players : Mark Taylor, Jack Drake, Brett Dannevig and Fotios Manolakos. Mark Taylor and Fotios Manolakos were eliminated in their turn in the third and fourth place for a gain of $ 12,800 and $ 16,640. Jack Drake finally defeated Dannevig Brett ($ 24,960) and won the $ 36,480.
