Macau Poker Cup Championship 2011: Calvin Tan takes the lead of the first day
The Macau Poker Cup Championship 2011 (MPCC) started last Friday, October 7 at the Grand Lisboa Casino, the capital of gambling of China and the Asian continent. The MPCC will be therefore held from October 7 to 16 and features apart from the main event many side event and the ceremony of Asia Player of the Year (APOY). This tournament is ranked as one of the major live poker competitions in Asia with the participation of the best players in the continent. Celina Lin, Raymond Wu, Devan Tang, Justin Chan, Lee Nelson and Bryan Huang are among the contenders for the title of the MPCC, won in 2010 by the German Julian Hasse.
At the opening of the Macau Poker Cup Championship 2011, 186 players attended the first day of the No Limit Hold'em $ 8,800 buy-in with a guaranteed prize of HKD 1,458,240. As a reminder, there will be 22 paid places in the Main Event and the winner will walk away with a huge gain of $ HKD 357,240. At the end of Day 1 (1A & 1B), Calvin Tan is currently the chipleader among the 38 surviving players by holding 114,700 chips. And just behind Calvin Tan, there are Sau Chin Ng and Jun Wei Liu with respectively stacks of 111,100 and 101,200 chips. Besides the top three, there are also Justin Chan (64,700), Hung-Chang Lin (61800), Celina Lin (25,600), Patrick Lee (23,000) and Ion Sang Song (14,200) in the leading group of the Day 2 scheduled to take place on Monday, October 10.
