USA : Bank account freeze and migration make the headlines
Online poker in the United States continues to be in the headlines of the poker news in recent months. And by analysing the development of the situation, the regulation of poker and other online gambling as well as the Full Tilt Poker case will not be solved by earlier. Last week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a warrant against Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer and other investors who are Ray Bitar and Rafe Furst. The arrest warrant doesn't mean the imprisonment of the accused but only the freezing of their bank accounts. These last weeks were a nightmare for the two players, leaders of Full Tilt Poker! Indeed last week, Ferguson and Lederer were expelled from the Epic Poker League tournament. And now the DOJ had just frozen their accounts by about $ 42 million for Howard Lederer and 25 million for Chris Ferguson.
Along with all these crises, American players continue to pack for neighbouring countries where the practice of poker is legal. Privileged countries of these players are Canada, Malta or Mexico. Daniel Negreanu, Justin Bonomo, Kevin MacPhee, Brian Townsend, Cole South, Tom Marchese, Shane Shleger, Olivier Busquet, Jonathan Jaffe, McLean Karr, Issac Haxton, Daniel Cates, Ryant Daut, Adam Levy, Jon Turner, Ben Sulsky are among... players who have already left their country to discover other horizons and hope to see their gain. The last in the list are Shaun Deeb and Jared Bleznick who chose the south of Rio Grande (Mexico).
