WPT Malta: Start of the tournament in Portomaso casino
If the World Poker Tour Borgata (WPT) is coming to the third day of competition after a fairly hectic day 2, the WPT Malta has just begun. Indeed, the start of the main event of 3,500 buy-in was held yesterday in the poker room of Portomaso Casino and brought together 101 participants. At the end of the first day of competition, only 64 players received the ticket for day 2 and it's the French player Fabien Sartoris who granted the place of chipleader with 127,350 chips. He has already accomplished a great feat in a side event of the WPT Amnéville during which he was part of the winning players. Note that the eliminated players on Day 1 will have the chance to sign up for Day 1B. This is a novelty introduced in this tenth edition of the circuit.
Some top players present in the starting field experienced early elimination as Phil Hellmuth, Fabrice Soulier and Arnaud Mattern. Everyone expect if they will or not return to try their luck for the second day one. But the race for the win still continues to the November Nine member of the World Series of Poker 2011 Matt Giannetti who is placed in the 5th position and Ilan Boujenah, Julien Claudepierre, Hugo Lemaire, and Basil Yaiche who is also in the top 10, in the 9th position. Other players like Tristan Clémençon, Isaac Haxton, David Vamplev, William Thorson, Dominik Nitsch, Justin Bonomo and Tony G are also present.
