English Deepstack Poker Championship: A nice victory of Jehan Zaib
The poker room of Broadway Casino in Birmingham crowned the champion of the second edition of the English Deepstack Poker Championship held on September 15 to 18, 2011. By ending the event as the best face to a field of 225 players during the main event of £ 550 buy-in of the tournament, Jehan Zaib won the trophy and the first prize of £ 27,850. It was an opportunity for poker enthusiasts to play poker deepstack in a professional setting. During the third day of competition, only 12 players among the starting field were able to sit again on the gaming tables and it took only an hour for the finalists to stand out after the elimination of Vance Martin, Raj Khanna and Alex Mah. Zaib started the final as holder of a small stack, but with patience and perseverance, he resisted.
James Shaw was the first defeated from the final table. He was followed shortly after by Jim Tierney. The next elimination was observed 90 minutes later and it was James Power who joined the bench of removed players. Ron Mathiessen and Andy King ended also their participation in this tournament at the 6th and 5th place after having been victims of Aamir Massod's attack. Steve Ball held the 4 th place after having been eliminated by Ash Ahmed who was entitled to the third place. The final duel was then disputed between Zaib and Massod. And despite the aggressive style of played shown by Massod, Zaib finally got the first place. As runner up, Masood pocketed £ 17,650. Note that the next edition of the English Deepstack Poker Championship will be held in Dublin from February 7 to 12, 2012.
