Corse Poker Series: Stopped at the last time by the police
While everyone expected an exceptional week's holiday in Corsica with poker as main activity, the first edition of the Corse Poker Series was a real disappointment for fans of poker who came there. They were effectively 47 participants who went to Sagone Resort, in southern Corsica. But fortunately that organizers planned other activities in the program. The Corse Poker Series became only a holiday on the Mediterranean Sea since the first day because of the landing of the gendarmerie. Indeed, the police raided and arrested the tournament even if the organizing committee informed the local authority two months before the D-Day about the purpose of event and the tournament to be held.
The organizers requested the service of two consultants to prepare the tournament according to the existing laws. The police accepted the case and authorized the poker tournament but at the last minute, forty policemen came in the resort and took the equipment. The organizers and the said consultants were interviewed for about five hours. The first victims of the assignment of the tournament was participants, but beach activities were already in the program and these leisure were able to dissipate the frustration on the face of poker enthusiasts who came there. At the end, the Corse Poker Series was a holiday like other with a cruise on the sea to discover the splendor of the Island of Beauty.
