Epic Poker League: A decrease of the turnout observed
If the main event of the first stage of the Epic Poker League tournament brought together up to 140 participants, a significant drop in attendance was recorded during this second stage because they were only 97 players to have joined the poker room of Palms casino in Las Vegas to take part in. The holding of the World Championship of online poker and the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris could be the cause. But no matter the turnout, the audience in the gaming room was entitled to great benefits offered by the 97 competitors. After the first day of competition, the player who qualified during the Pro / Am tournament, Jamie Kaplan, conquered the place of chipleader with 324,600 chips and Daniel O'Brien was ranked at the second position. Please note that Kaplan wouldn't have the chance to compete if Michael DiVita did not give up his prize because, indeed, he was ranked at the 10 th position.
Other players who earned their place in the main event via the Pro / Am, Getzwiller, Phil Hellmuth, Nam Le and the the famous Greg Mueller demonstrated also their expertise throughout the battle and they were able to qualify for the second day. Getzwiller and Nam Le were able to fit into the top 10. Brandon Meyers, Andreas Hovoid, Russell Rosenblum and Jeremy Ausmus had for their part to join the benches of eliminated players as well as some top players as Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, the World Champion Vanessa Selbst and Gavin Smith.
