APPT Queenstown: In favor of New Zealand
The second stage of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Season 5 takes place currently in Queenstown, New Zealand at SKYCITY Queenstown Casino. The APPT Queenstown gathered 127 players from all of the Asian continent with a massive presence of players from New Zealand at the registration. The arrival of these many players from 19 Asian countries generated a prize pool of more than NZ $ 340,000 for a buy-in from NZ $ 3,000. The Main Event Day 1 of the APPT Queenstown held from August 23 to 25 created many surprises all along the day 1A, 1B and 1C.
In fact on Day 1, the great poker players like Julien Cohen (NZPT Queenstown 2010 champion), Joe Hachem (World Series 2005 champion) and Simon Watt (holder of a World Series 2010 bracelet) failed to qualify for Day 2 which began on Thursday, August 25. Cole Swannack scored a good start with 86,050 chips in Day 1A. The Day 1B has been dominated by Marcel Schreiner (72,600). At the end of Day 1, Alicia Sale rose to the first place in the competition with 91,750 chips. For Day 2, which started this Friday, August 26, 71 players were qualified with a Top 5 monopolized by New Zealanders. Alicia Sale is the chip leader with 91,750 chips followed by Cole Swannack (86,050), Koray Turker (85,075), Jackson Zheng (80,125) and Ben Paurini (77,225).
