WPT Summer Splash Regional: A first trophy in live tournament for Brian Hastings
Known for his performances in high-stakes online poker tournaments, Brian Hastings has just won his first victory in a live tournament. And it's not an amateur event but a major tournament as it's the World Poker Tour Summer Splash Regional. The poker room of Seminole Hard Rock Casino has however welcomed during this event an important field of 391 participants in which the biggest names in poker, as the leader of the Global Poker Index, Jason Mercier, were enrolled. If the latter settled for the 23th place, Hastings finally reach the victory with a reward of $ 213,877. He has proven that he can succeed in both tournaments on the Internet than in live tournaments.
During the regional stage of the WPT open for $ 2,200 buy-in, the organizers registered a prize pool of $ 782,000. As online poker is still an illegal gambling in the United States, many poker enthusiasts tried to break into live tournaments and made the trip to Florida. The WPT will stop at Bicycle Casino in California tomorrow and it is certain that the event will record also a success. Note that "Stinger885", the King of High Stakes ousted Griffin Malatino during the final duel and the latter bagged the second prize of $ 117,300. The third place went back to Michael Degilio. Darryl Fish, Jake Schwartz, Anthony Ruberto, Pham Cong, Martha Rodriguez-Dajer Campanello and Bryan were also among the finalists and they were classified respectively in the 4th to the 9th place.
