Beverly Hills: More than 200 celebrities at the third charity tournament
If poker is a real livelihood for some, many players appreciated this game for its entertaining side. Last week, many of the famous American celebrities met at Beverly Hills Hotel for the third annual charity event organized around a Texas Hold'em poker tournament. The purpose of this event was to raise funds for the improvement of education associations such as the Alliance for College Ready Schools, the Richard Merkin Middle School and the United Friends of Children. This event brought together more than 200 guests made up of celebrities like Powers Boothe, Dennis Haysbert, Gabriel Aubry, Vinnie Jones, Kelly Hu, James Remar, Matt Craven, Richard Karn, Chris Rich, governor Gray Davis, governor Michael Leavitt and his wife, Mayor Richard Riordan and philanthropists as Eli Broad and Michael Milken.
At this charitable event, professional players were also present as Maria Ho and Jerry Yang. For recall, Jerry Yang won the World Series of Poker Championship 2007. And at the end of this meeting in Beverly Hills, it was Topper Mortimer who won the third annual meeting of Texas Hold'em charity tournament. The Alliance for College Ready Schools is an organization that helps children from low-income households in the State of California to have degrees in colleges. The Richard Merkin Middle School offers for its part to students a more comfortable place to learn so they can later continue their academic study. And finally the United Friends of Children, provides shelters to youth to assist them in their high school and university to full independence.
