Alex Rodriguez: Free of any sanction
Baseball fans especially thoses who are fans of the New York Yankees were last week upset by the case Alex Rodriguez who was accused by the Major League Baseball (MLB) to have played poker in illegal party. A-Rod, the Yankees' star player, according to the American magazine "Star" participated in an illegal poker game that ended in a brawl. The player, according to the U.S. tabloid still would have been involved in illegal poker games with other stars fans of poker like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Tobey Maguire and Ben Affleck. The practice of poker itself is not prohibited by the Major League Baseball which is trying to remove its players involved in sports betting including private poker games.
The participation of A-Rod in private poker games date back in 2005, when he was severely warned by the commissioner Bud Selig and the staff of the Yankees. The MLB had taken seriously the allegation of the magazine "Star" and subsequently decided to investigate last week. After an investigation by the league, Rodriguez was free of any penalty and will not be suspended, as feared by the fans. But the Yankees star was sentenced again to a verbal warning which finally forced him to give up this type of illegal activity at the risk of harming his sporting career. Alex Rodriguez is one of the highest paid players in the league with a salary of $ 270 million in ten years.
