Global Poker Index: Bertrand « Elky » still leads
The new result of the Global Poker Index (GPI) was published on July 26, 2011. The numerous poker events that was played in the meantime helped to change the results because the great exploits of some players allowed them to earn extra points. Nevertheless, the French No. 1, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, who sat a week earlier at the top of the table kept his place. It is the same for the high limit poker enthusiast Jason Mercier, who is still at the second position. Unfortunately, the Russian Eugene Katchalov was removed for the 4 th position and left his place to Eric Seidel. Fabrice Soulier also won a promotion and has taken the place of Sorel Mizzi while the latter is currently in the 7th place. And always in the top 10 of the GPI of July 26, Tom Marchese moved up to the 8th place and it's David Baker and John Juanda who are now in the 9 th and 10 th position.
The results at the World Series of Poker 2011 (WSOP) have indeed brought great changes to the GPI of the past week. With their winnings at the WSOP, some players won 100 seats as Joseph Cheong, Erick Lindgren, Max Heinzelmann or Frank Calo. The fact of having played poker at the Bellagio Cup VII also improved the position of some players like Joe Elpayaa who just made his entry in the GPI after winning the 9 th place at the Bellagio Cup VII. It is the same for Brandon Cantu, Daniel Colman and Ted Forrest. Players who shone in the poker room of Bellagio casino also significantly improved their ranking like Bryn Kenney who rose to the 43 th position after having won 37 seats, William Thorson who won 30 seats, ranked now at the 55 th position and Hafiz Khan, who won 95 places and is not at the 133 th position.
