World Poker Tour Slovenia: A very low turnout on Day A
The new stage of the World Poker Tour (WPT) which is the WPT Slovenia began last Sunday, July 17 in the poker room of the famous Grand Casino Portoro. Unfortunately, this first day of competition was a complete failure because the event met only 46 players. Effectively, the holding of the main event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas is the reason of this low attendance. However, WPT Slovenia is an opportunity to play poker in a professional tournament and inside an idyllic casino is located in the heart of the most beautiful resort of Slovenia.
At the end of the Day, the starting field was narrowed to 26 players. Among the top players that can play back the second day of competition, there is the player Johan Patrick Hirvonen of Finland, who takes the place of chip leader with 148,000 chips in hand, the Croat Dragan Galic and the WSOP 2010 finalist Filippo Candio. The Day 1B started on Monday, July 18 and organizers hope to bring a more consistent field. And in this context, some WPT champions are part of the Day 1 field B as the winner of the WPT Barcelona 2011 Lukas Berglund and the WPT Amnéville 2010 champion Sal El Sayed. Other top players as the champion of the European Poker Tour Vilamoura 2010 Toby Lewis, the British poker pro John Eames, German Dominik Nitsh and the famous Tony G are also in the race. Note that the buy-in of the Main Event is set at 3,300.
