UKIPT Brighton: Chris O’Donnell won the Main Event

Although most eyes of the poker community are glued to Las Vegas where the World Series of Poker Main Event 2011 takes place, the United Kingdom got also the poker fever, last weekend. In fact, the United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) tournament took place in Brighton and it was a real success. This event with £ 500 buy-in gathered a wide field of 603 participants. Note that a prizepool of £ 292,455 was collected during this event and the winner thus, pocketed £ 71,100 as first prize.

On the third day of competition, Chris O’Donnell, an adept of online poker achieved his goal and obtained the first place. This young poker player of 26 year-old, knew how to control the final table. He eliminated Richard Hasancebi during the final heads-up. It lasted 4 hours before he took the role of chipleader what allowed him to conquer the victory at the end. He was then elected as the UKIPT Brighton Champion. Ales Fergusson was the first to leave the table. Jaroslav Horak, David Trigg, David Rudling-Smith, Sinem Melin and Rudi Johnsen followed him by taking respectively the 9th, 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th and the 4th position. The third place goes to Jeff Duval and after he had to leave the table, the final heads-up started. Note that the UKIPT will be played in Edinburgh from August 11th to 14th, 2011 and those who are interested in playing poker in a professional and friendly environment could register and join this British town.
