French online gambling debate: A sad review for online poker
The future of online poker was the focus of discussion at the French online gambling debate which took place on June 29, in Paris. Most of operators having a license said that the benefits are poor and the market is far from flourishing. This balance is also negative due to the tax base that does not allow operators to collect the profits that should rightfully theirs. Faced with such complaints, Senator François Trucy said that he is for a change of taxation like operators. Indeed, it is the only way that could significantly improve the results of the online poker market. He also mentioned the project to improve offers to make the French market more attractive to curb the enthusiasm of players to illegal sites.
Apart from this problem with the world of online poker, a debate has been opened on the authorization of casino games, the problem of identity card control which was designed to prevent the participation of minors in gambling. And in this context, two round tables were set up during the debate which was anchored on the fight against addiction and player protection. The SOS Players, for example, considered too short the period of validation of the player's account which leaves no time for operators to control the player's age. By its president, Armelle Achour, the association also proposed a limit on deposits to reduce the risk of loss of money and the display on the gaming software of money lost and the time spent on the casino website.
