WSOP 2011: Darren Woods champion and Elky in the way to win a bracelet
The Britain's Darren Woods had just seized the 19 th bracelet of the World Series of Poker 2011 (WSOP) at the Event # 19, Limit Hold'em 6-Max of $ 2,500 buy-in. While French audience were hoping for a victory of their compatriot Gabriel Nassif, he was eliminated at the 6th position. However, he has just made a great achievement as he currently stands in the ranks of French players who record a WSOP final table. The action is also in full swing at the $ 1,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, which brought together a wide field of 3,175 participants. It remains only 27 survivors, but all representatives of the Hexagon have been removed. Jason Sommerville is placed at the top of the pack with 749,000 chips in hand. Despite the advantage he acquired, he should still face formidable players like the Hungarian Valdemar Kwayser who won a bracelet in the last edition and the Dutchman Lex Veldhuis. Besides the famous jewels of the WSOP, the winner will also leave with a nice gain of $ 493,091.
As for the Event # 21, a Seven Card Stud Championship of $ 10,000, there were 126 registered players and the prize pool gathered for this poker tournament is $ 1,184,400. Four representatives of the Hexagon were part of the starting field. And after two days of competition rather hectic, three of them including David Benyamine, Sébastien Sabic and Alexandre Luneau were already eliminated. However, there is still a hope for France as Bertrand Grospellier throne at the third position while there are only 14 competitors vying for the title. He could therefore pick up the first French bracelet at the WSOP 2011 and will be also part of players holding the famous Triple Crown. However, the battle will be tough because he has on his way top players like Chad Brown, Jason Mercier, Sorel Mizzi, Men Nguyen and Steve Landfish, the chip leader.
