Gambling circle closure in France: The Corsican banditry as the main reason
The closure of a few Parisian gambling circles was one of the last news in France. If before, the reasons of the sanctions taken against these gambling establishments were still unclear, currently all information referring to these events begin to spread two days after the closure of the cercle Wagram and Club Eldo. Indeed, the spokesman of the Direction générale de la police nationale (DGPN), Pascal Garibian stated that the two gaming clubs, well known in the poker world are also linked to organized crime case. The news site Leparisien.fr also unveiled that the case also involved the cercle Haussmann. Effectively, the leaders of the institution are involved in a case of organizing illegal gambling.
According to the source, the police found the holding of an illegal high-stakes poker tournament at the Haussmann club. It was during a traffic control that the police discovered the affair. Many people were arrested including managers of the institution. During the investigation, police also found that the Corsican banditry is behind the irregularities. This structure interested for a long time the authorities because by cooperating with gambling circles, bandits easily find a better way to make money laundering. If reopening of the cercle Haussmann turns out to be impossible following the heavy charges blaming on the leaders of the institution, the cercle Wagram and Club Eldo still relies on the decision of the Minister of Interior. But in any case, those who enjoy playing poker in these places will have to find new points where to meet.
