EPT Awards Season 7: Six players rewarded, Ireland EPT Country of the year
The European Poker Tour Awards ceremony Season 7 took place on May 12th, in the Spanish capital. Eight trophies have been awarded at Pacha Nightclub in Madrid all along the night. In all, six poker players were rewarded besides the best Country organizer of the European circuit among the eight prize lists awarded this year 2011. However, if the six rewards have been evaluated according to collected points during these 13 stages of the EPT Season 7, the other two rewards which are The EPT Best Performance of The Year and the EPT Players' Choice Award were the result of players votes. They voted for only one player for these two trophies.
During this EPT Awards ceremony Season 7, the trophy of the EPT Best Player of the Year was awarded to the Portuguese businessman Fernando Brito; that of the EPT Best Omaha Player of the Year was given to the Italian poker player Dario Alioto. The British Matthew Ashton has been chosen as the Mixed Game Player of the Year. The title of the EPT Heads-Up Player of the Year was awarded to the Portuguese poker player Diogo Veiga. The Swedish poker player Martin Jacobson was chosen as the EPT Online Poker Player of the Year thanks to his qualifications during the EPT stages and three final tables. Note that he has a very good knowledge of online poker. Max Heinzelmann, in his turn, has been awarded two titles : the EPT Best Performance of The Year and that of the EPT Players' Choice Award. The title of the EPT Country of the Year was awarded to Ireland thanks to buy-ins and places paid it provided. Irish players ranked ITM during the Main Event of the Season 7 will participate thus, in a Freeroll with 10,000 of prizepool in the Season 8.
