EPT Madrid: Bertrand Grospellier on the top of High Roller podium
The Grand Finale of the European Poker Tour (EPT) circuit has indeed begun in Madrid. While participants for the Main Event are still fighting thoroughly to win the title, ElkY Grospellier, the French poker star already won the first trophy distributed during this final of Madrid. Part of the field of 58 players of the 25,000 High Roller event, Grospellier has been the best by winning the race. He qualified first as finalist of the event despite the presence of a large number of professional players in the list of competitors. The list of qualified players for the final table also continues to prove it with renowned players such as the chip leader Galen Hall, who was crowned champion of the PCA 2011 and finished 7th in the competition, Juha Helppi (3rd), Vanessa Rousso (5th) and David Sands (4th). But anyone couldn't stop the French star to seize the victory.
Thus, after the elimination of the Finn for the third place, Grospellier faced Benny Spindler during the final Heads'up, a duel during which the great ElkY completely dominated his opponent and succeeded without any big difficulty to win the first place of the podium with an award of 525,000. This is the second title of Grospellier in High Roller tournaments after his first victory in the Bahamas in 2009. And with this new gain, the champion significantly improved his ranking in the All Time Money List. He sits now at the 26th place with $ 7.3 million of earnings. The runner up pocketed 316,000 for his performance in this high level poker tournament and the Canadian Petter Jetten and the Russian Alex Repik respectively occupied the 6th and 8th place of this EPT Madrid High Roller.
